From feminist theory to philosophy, humanities have shaped our world by challenging norms and
advancing human rights.
The research-based MA programmes at MAHE, Manipal, in humanities, liberal arts, and social
sciences foster critical thinking and independent inquiry. You'll examine societal structures,
question assumptions, and gain the skills to drive real-world change in academia, social
justice, policy, and beyond.
The diverse MA programmes across various departments encourage original creation through a comprehensive thesis and contribution to MISHA’s cultural and academic events, culminating in a personal academic portfolio.
The program offers rigorous text-based study of Sanskrit literature and Indian intellectual traditions, combining historical, linguistic, and exegetical approaches. It trains students in comparative, critical, and research methodologies, preparing them for advanced scholarship, teaching, and interdisciplinary engagement with classical and modern frameworks.
The MA program offers a multidisciplinary foundation before specialization across English, European Studies, History, Philosophy, or Sociology. With research-driven pedagogy, global exposure through study abroad and dual-degree options, and close faculty mentorship, students develop strong analytical and research skills. A substantive thesis prepares graduates for doctoral research and careers in academia and allied fields, with the degree awarded in the chosen domain.
The program provides an in-depth, interdisciplinary study of world politics, security, diplomacy, and emerging domains such as cyberspace, outer space, and science diplomacy. It equips students with analytical and policy skills for careers in academia, think tanks, media, corporate risk analysis, and public service.
Dappled in sunlight and punctuated by birdsong, the lively classrooms sit alongside cosy reading nooks.
Students will have easy access to a library, an art gallery, an auditorium, a lakeside pavilion, and the comfort of a like-minded community actively engaged in studying human thought and behaviour.
